The 2013-14 academic year was a successful one in the classroom for student-athletes at Indian Hills Community College. Six individuals and five teams were recognized by the National Junior College Athletic Association for their academic performance.
Of the IHCC teams that were named NJCAA All-Academic Teams, the women's cross country squad was the Academic Team of the Year in that sport with the highest team grade point average in the nation at 3.67. The men's soccer team had the second-best GPA in the country at 3.32.
The student-athletes who were named Athletes of Distinction included three – Sara Keith (Ottumwa, Ia.), women's cross country; Caleb Ratzman (Winneconne, Wis.), baseball; and Kendle Schieber (Conception Junction, Mo.), softball – who were cited for Superior Academic Achievement for their GPAs between 3.8 and 3.99.

In addition to the women's cross country and men's soccer teams, the Indian Hills softball, baseball and golf squads also were All-Academic Teams. To be given that honor requires a team GPA of 3.0 or above.
For the IHCC softball team, it's the 15th consecutive year it has been named an All-Academic Team by the NJCAA. The baseball team earned the recognition for the seventh year in a row, the golf team the fifth straight year and the women's cross country team the fourth year in a row.
