Centerville, IA – The Indian Hills Baseball team picked up two Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) weekly accolades after picking up four wins last week. The Warriors earned the DI Player of the Week in Ricardo Van Grieken (Merida, Venezuela/San Luis) and the DI Pitcher of the Week in Douglas Rojas (Valencia, Venezuela/U.E. Cabriales).

The Warriors have now earned three ICCAC Pitcher of the Week awards as well as three Player of the Week awards. Rojas and Van Grieken have now earned two ICCAC Athlete of the Week honors after both being recognized by the conference office last year.

Van Grieken put together a stellar week at the plate for the Warriors, going 10-21 for a .476 batting average in six games. The COVID-sophomore extended his season-best hitting streak to nine games and has reached base safely in 17 consecutive games.

Van Grieken collected seven extra base hits, including a grand slam in a 12-0 win over Ellsworth on Saturday. Van Grieken also added six doubles and has now tallied eight doubles in his last nine games. Van Grieken also added 11 RBI and seven runs scored for the Warriors.

In two appearances on the mound, Rojas was lights out for the Warriors. The southpaw pitched 10 scoreless innings while striking out 16 batters. Rojas allowed just four base hits and four walks on the week.

Rojas made a relief appearance against NIACC on April 4 and allowed just one hit while striking out six batters. Rojas then got the start on the mound against Ellsworth on April 9 and pitched a run-rule shortened complete game, striking out a career-high 10 batters in five innings. Rojas allowed just three singles in the victory to improve to 2-1 on the year.
