LEADING OFF

The Warriors have produced five consecutive wins to push their overall record to 6-2 to open the new year.

  • Indian Hills currently ranks among the top offenses in the nation:
    • On-base percentage: .514 (8th in NJCAA)
    • Batting average: .376 (11th in NJCAA)
    • Slugging percentage: .661 (16th in NJCAA)
  • The Warriors are coming off a 4-0 sweep at National Park College (AR), outscoring the Nighthawks 73-16.
  • For his efforts against National Park, sophomore Jose Lopez was tapped as the ICCAC DI Baseball Athlete of the Week
  • Dating back to the 2010 season, the Warriors' eight games to eclipse 100 runs on the year is the fastest in program history.
  • Indian Hills currently boasts five individuals with a .400 batting average or better who have double-digit plate appearances on the year:
  • The Indian Hills pitching staff has issued just 17 walks on the year, the fewest in the nation among teams that have played at least eight games on the year.

SERIES HISTORY

The two storied JUCO programs are set to square off for the fifth consecutive season in Kansas. Indian Hills is 5-11 against Cowley since the 2022 campaign.

  • Each of the 16 prior contests have been played at thw Cowley Baseball Facility.
  • Indian Hills' last win against the Tigers came in 2024, a 9-7 win for the Warriors.
  • Prior to the 2022 matchup between Indian Hills and Cowley, the previous meeting between the two clubs came in Grand Junction, CO for the JUCO World Series in both 1997 and 1998. Indian Hills defeated Cowley 11-6 in the second round in 1997 before falling to the Tigers in the elimination game 15-9. The Tigers went on to win the World Series that year. In 1998, Indian Hills defeated Cowley 17-7 to advance to the elimination finals, but eventually fell to San Jacinto to place third overall. Cowley went on to win its second consecutive title.
  • The two programs have combined for 22 all-time appearances at the JUCO World Series (IHCC - 12, Cowley 10).

SCOUTING THE TIGERS

Cowley entered the season ranked No. 16 in the preseason NJCAA DI Baseball Poll, but dropped out of the first regular season rankings with a 4-5 overall record.

  • The Tigers opened up with nine consecutive road games in Texas to kick off the year, earning wins over Northeast Texas, Tyler (TX), and Panola (TX).
  • The Tigers have posted a 118-22 (.843%) on its home field over the last five seasons, including a 26-1 mark a year ago.
  • Through nine games this year, the Tigers are averaging 6.3 runs/game while allowing 7.1 runs/game.
  • Freshman catcher Holden Groebl powers the offense for Cowley with a .528 batting average, three home runs, and nine RBI.
  • Cowley is under the direction of seventh-year head coach Darren Burroughs.

The Warriors return to Centerville to make their 2026 home opener at historic Pat Daugherty Field on Friday, March 6. Indian Hills will square off against Des Moines Area Community College for a doubleheader with first pitch set for 12:00 PM.
