Centerville, IA – The Indian Hills Baseball team swept the weekly Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Baseball Athlete of the Week awards on Tuesday. Sophomores Yuan-Kai Chang (Taipei, Taiwan/Taipei Dai) and Kevin Ramos (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Springfield Commonwealth) were tapped by the league office for the weekly accolades.
The duo helped lead the Warriors to a series split at Cowley College (KS) in Arkansas City, KS over the weekend. For their efforts, Chang was selected as the ICCAC DI Baseball Pitcher of the Week while Ramos was named the league's top offensive performer.
Chang delivered another solid outing on the mound in his lone appearance on the week for the Warriors. Chang picked up the series opening win, a 6-3 victory over the Tigers, going 6.0 innings while scattering five hits with just one run allowed. The sophomore tallied a season-high eight punchouts without issuing a walk.
On the year, Chang boasts a 3-0 overall record with 17 strikeouts and zero walks allowed.
Ramos continued to thrive at the plate to open his sophomore campaign for the Warriors. Ramos powered the offense with a .500 batting average (6-12), including four extra base hits. The sophomore added four RBI and five runs scored for the Warriors.
Ramos opened the series at Cowley with a 2-3 performance, but starred in game three with a 3-3 effort, including a home run and two doubles while scoring three runs.
On the year, Ramos is batting .375 at the plate with four home runs, 15 RBI, and 15 runs scored.
