RODRIGUEZ NAMED CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore shortstop Boris Rodriguez (San Sebastian, Puerto Rico/ESCAED) of the Indian Hills Baseball squad has been named the 2026 Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Baseball Co-Defensive Player of the Year, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Rodriguez becomes the fifth different individual in program history to earn postseason defensive honors from the ICCAC. The sophomore becomes the first non-catcher from Indian Hills to earn the honor. Rodriguez joins the likes of former standouts AJ Marchetti (2025), Deigo Aragon (2022), Dave Janssen (2021), and Zac Fascia (2018, 2017) to earn defensive honors from the ICCAC.

Rodriguez capped a standout two-year career at Indian Hills with another remarkable season up the middle. Rodriguez started 45 of the team's 47 games as the program's primary shortstop and led the ICCAC with 18 double plays turned. In 162 total chances on the year, Rodriguez recorded just five errors for a career-high .969 fielding percentage. The sophomore added a career-high 103 assists.

Over the course of his two-year run for the Warriors, Rodriguez appeared in 97 career games while producing 38 career double plays and a lifetime .951 fielding percentage.

In addition to Rodriguez's defensive honor, the sophomore was named to the 2026 NJCAA DI Baseball All-Region 11 Second-Team, along with nine teammates.
