NO. 13 WARRIORS RUN PAST DODGE CITY ON THE ROAD

Dodge City, KS – No. 13 Indian Hills Men's Basketball jumped out to an early lead and pulled away down the stretch to knock off Dodge City Community College (KS) 93-73 on the road Tuesday night. The Warriors move to 3-0 overall on the year.

Indian Hills built a 16-point cushion in the opening half thanks in large part to the standout play of redshirt-freshman Sawyer Mayhugh (Weston, MA/Queens). The Warriors held off a late surge from the Conquistadors, outscoring Dodge City by 14 over the final 10 minutes of play to secure its second win all-time at The Dome in Dodge City.

Mayhugh was electric for the Warriors all night long, tallying nine of the team's first 11 points of the contest. Mayhugh poured in a season-high 25 points on 7-11 shooting while knocking down a pair of three-point shots.

Sophomore KJ LaMonte (Davenport, IA/New Mexico Highlands) came off the bench to once again spark the Warriors. LaMonte tallied 19 points on 8-10 shooting to go along with six rebounds. Fellow sophomore Taj Au-Duke (Toronto, Canada/Pepperdine) added 18 points in the Warrior win.</p

Freshman Xavier Wilson (Kansas City, MO/Staley) was dominant on both ends of the floor for the Warriors. Wilson collected his first collegiate double-double with 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

Due in large part to Wilson's effort on the glass, the Warriors outrebounded the Conquistadors 44-37 on the night. The Indian Hills defense forced 17 Dodge City turnovers as six different players collected a steal in the win.

It was Mayhugh that powered Indian Hills early, scoring back-to-back buckets before connecting on a three-point shot to give the Warriors an early 11-5 advantage. A layup from Wilson at the 12:33 mark gave Indian Hills a double-digit lead, 16-6. Sophomore Ater Manyuon (Austin, MN/We Are United Prep) drained a three-point shot at the 6:50 mark to push the lead to 18, 31-13. Sophomore Chaz Watson (Kansas City, MO/Cleveland State), making his season debut, drained a three with 16 seconds to play to give the Warriors a 46-30 edge at halftime.

Dodge City clawed back midway through the second half, getting as close as six points, 57-51 with 10:22 to play. Au-Duke, LaMonte, and Mayhugh teamed up to score the next 18 points as the Warriors went on an 26-7 run to surge past the host team.
