Ottumwa, IA – Freshman Xavier Wilson (Kansas City, MO/Staley) of the No. 11 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Basketball squad has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Basketball Player of the Week, announced Tuesday afternoon.
Wilson powered the Warriors to three wins last week with a trio of dominant performances. Indian Hills picked up a road win at Dodge City Community College (KS) before returning to the Hellyer Center in Ottumwa to upend Malcolm X College (IL) and No. 20 ranked John A. Logan College (IL) as part of the RV & PowerSports Classic.
Wilson continued a stellar start to his rookie campaign, averaging 11.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per contest for the Warriors while shooting 52.0 percent from the floor and 80.0 percent from three free throw line.
Wilson opened the week with a dominant performance at Dodge City, recording his first double-double of his freshman season. Wilson poured in 11 points to go along with a game-high 13 rebounds. Wilson followed up with eight points, nine rebounds, and a pair of steals vs. Malcolm X in just 17 minutes of action.
The freshman closed out the week with an impressive showing vs. national power John A. Logan. Wilson tied for a game-high with 15 points on 6-7 shooting from the floor while contributing seven rebounds, a block, and a steal to fill the stat sheet.
Wilson currently leads the ICCAC with 6.6 rebounds per game.
Indian Hills returns to action with a pair of high-level contests in Ephraim, UT. The Warriors will take on Salt Lake Community College (UT) Friday night at 6:00 PM CT and No. 9 nationally ranked Snow College (UT) at 4:00 PM CT.
