MAYHUGH LIGHTS UP WILDCATS, WARRIORS ROLL

Ottumwa, IA – Behind a career performance from Sawyer Mayhugh (Weston, MA/Queens), the No. 9 ranked Indian Hills Men's Basketball squad picked up an impressive 89-70 victory over visiting North Dakota State College of Science at the Hellyer Center Saturday night.

The win closed out a 2-0 record during the Norris Asphalt Classic for the Warriors as Indian Hills combined to outscore its two opponents by an average of 36.0 points per game following Friday's 125-67 win over Lake Region State College (ND). The 70 points allowed Saturday night was the first time in 10 contests that the Wildcats scored below 90 points in a game, and the second-fewest points scored this season.

Mayhugh poured in a personal-best performance with 28 points on the night, going 10-13 from the floor while pulling down eight boards. Mayhugh tallied 20 points alone in the opening half to carry the Warriors to victory.

Coming off a career-night on Friday, sophomore Mason Costello (Waukee, IA/Waukee) followed up with another dominant performance, tallying 22 points to go along with seven rebounds, four assists, and a pair of steals. Costello knocked down five three-point shots following his school record nine three-point shots on Friday.

Sophomore KJ LaMonte (Davenport, IA/New Mexico Highlands) added 15 points while Taj Au-Duke (Toronto, Canada/Pepperdine) added 12 points, six rebounds, and a team-high five assists.

Indian Hills held the Wildcats to just 38.2 percent shooting on the night, its second lowest effort of the year. The Warriors used an impressive 42-20 advantage in points in the paint to hand NDSCS just its second loss of the season.

The two sides traded leads early on throughout the opening half. Mayhugh powered the offense early, scoring 13 of the team's first 23 points of the night. All square at 22, the Warriors strung together a 24-11 run to close out the opening half with a 46-35 lead at intermission.

Mayhugh scored back-to-back buckets to open the second half and the Warriors never looked back. Indian Hills limited the Wildcats to just 4-20 from three-point range in the second half, using its defensive presence to build its lead to as many as 25 late in the second half.

With the win, the Warriors run its win streak to five contests and remain undefeated at the Hellyer Center this year with an 8-0 mark.

The Warriors wrap up its homestand Wednesday night with a 7:00 PM matchup at the Hellyer Center vs. McCook Community College (NE).
