Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Chaz Watson (Kansas City, MO/Cleveland State) of the No. 12 Indian Hills Men's Basketball squad has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week after leading the Warriors in Las Vegas.
Watson powered the Warriors to two victories at the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas, NV over the weekend to help push Indian Hills to a 14-2 overall record. Indian Hills knocked off Gillette College (WY) 87-50 before closing out its trip with a 65-53 win over North Idaho College.
Watson posted back-to-back double-digit scoring efforts, the sophomore's fourth consecutive contest in double-figures and fifth time overall on the year. Watson averaged 12.5 points per game to go along with 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.
The sophomore tallied 10 points in the win over Gillette while pulling down five rebounds and dishing out a season-high four assists. Watson followed up with a key performance against North Idaho, knocking down five three-point shots to finish the night with 15 points. The guard connected on a pair of late three-point shots to help lead the Warriors to victory.
On the year, Watson is shooting 42.9 percent from three-point range, the top mark in the ICCAC this season.
The Warriors will now head into the holiday break before returning to action at the Hellyer Center on Tuesday, January 6 against Dakota County Technical College. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
