WATSON SETS RECORD, WARRIORS ROLL SKYHAWKS

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Chaz Watson (Kansas City, MO/Cleveland State) set a new school record with 10 three-point shots made to lead No. 8 Indian Hills Men's Basketball to a 108-77 win over Sauk Valley Community College (IL) at the Hellyer Center on Saturday night. The Warriors improve to 21-2 overall on the year.

The Warriors have now won nine consecutive games, and move to 14-0 overall on its home court this year with its fourth straight win over the Skyhawks. The Warriors surpassed 100 points in a game for the fourth time this season, and second time in the team's last four outings.

Watson continued his torrid stretch of play as the sophomore knocked down 10 of his 21 three-point attempts to set a new single-game record for the Warriors. Watson connected on seven three's alone in the second period to finish the night with 32 points, the most points in a single game at Indian Hills since Truth Harris scored 37 on December 31, 2022.

Watson, who now leads the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) with 54 three-point shots on the year, is shooting 47.4 percent from beyond the arc on the year.

Joining Watson in double-figures was sophomore Taj Au-Duke (Toronto, Canada/Pepperdine) who collected a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists to go along with five rebounds. Fellow sophomore Chiang Ring (Minneapolis, MN/Murray State) added 14 points and a game-high eight rebounds while KJ LaMonte (Davenport, IA/New Mexico Highlands) added 11 points. Freshman Xavier Wilson (Kansas City, MO/Staley) tacked on 10 points and five boards for the Warriors.

As a team, the Warriors tallied a season-high 18 three-point shots, the most in a game for the program since hitting 23 from beyond the arc on March 10, 2021 against Marshalltown Community College.

The Warriors and Skyhawks battled throughout the duration of the opening half as neither side led by more than five. Sauk Valley eventually took a late lead in the first stanza before the Warriors closed the half on a 12-2 run to take a 42-32 lead into intermission.

Watson sparked the Warriors to kickstart the second half, knocking down four consecutive three-point shots to put the game out of reach. Watson's four straight three-point shots came in the first 4:01 of the second half as Indian Hills extended its lead to 62-44. As a team, the Warriors buried 11 three-point shots over the final 20 minutes of play to pull away for the win.

Indian Hills will now head to River Grove, IL to take on Triton College (IL) at 7:00 PM on February 4.
