The Warriors and Cardinals will square off for the second time this season as Mineral Area heads to Ottumwa for the 7:00 PM tip-off Wednesday night.

  • The Warriors (24-2) are coming off a win over Southeastern to claim the outright regular season ICCAC title, the 18th consecutive year the Warriors have earned at least a share of the regular season conference championship.
  • Indian Hills currently boasts the third-longest winning streak in the nation at 12 games.
    • McLennan (TX) - 16 games, Monroe (NY) - 15 games
  • Sophomore KJ LaMonte was named the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week
  • The Warriors currently rank fourth in the nation in defensive rebounds/game (31.0).
  • Indian Hills ranks 11th in the NJCAA in opponents' FG% (39.1).
  • The Warriors checked in at No. 3 in this week's NJCAA poll, the team's highest rank of the year.

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS

Mineral Area heads to the Hellyer Center with a 16-9 overall record, having lost its last two matchups.

  • The Cardinals are coming off an 87-79 loss at State Fair Community College (MO) which followed a 70-63 loss at Moberly Area Community College (MO).
  • Mineral Area, the last team to defeat the Warriors back in December, are 8-4 since the win vs. Indian Hills.
  • Sophomore Nazir Allen leads the program with 14.3 points per game while Terron Garrett chips in 13.1 points per contest.
  • The Cardinals are allowing opponents to shoot 32.3 percent from three-point range, ranked 82nd in the NJCAA.
  • The Cardinals are 2-2 vs. common opponents with the Warriors this year, including wins over Triton College (IL) and Highland Community College (IL).
  • Mineral Area is under the direction of second-year head coach Tony Irons.

SERIES HISTORY

Indian Hills and Mineral Area will be matching up for the 18th time in program history, but just the second time since 2014.

  • The Warriors own a 10-7 all-time record over the Cardinals.
  • Mineral Area captured the last meeting, a 84-78 win earlier this season on December 13 in Park Hills, MO, the Warriors' last defeat.
  • Indian Hills is 7-0 all-time at the Hellyer Center vs. the Cardinals.
  • The first all-time meeting came at the Mineral Area Classic in 1988, a 104-72 victory for the Cardinals.

WHAT'S NEXT

Indian Hills has just three regular season contests remaining on the schedule this season. Next up for the Warriors is a trip to Sauk Valley Community College (IL) at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 21.

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT

Former Indian Hills standout, now a member of the University of Arkansas Little Rock Men's Basketball squad, recently surpassed 1,000 career points for his collegiate career. Bayless, who starred with the Warriors from 2020-22, continued his career at Niagara University and Western Kentucky University before landing at Little Rock for his graduate season. Bayless currently ranks fourth on the team with 10.7 points per game this season. Bayless scored 436 career points during his tenure with the Warriors.
