Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Chiang Ring (Minneapolis, MN/Murray State) of the No. 2 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Basketball team has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week for the third time this season, announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
Ring led the Warriors to the 2026 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Basketball Region 11 Championship Saturday night at the Hellyer Center with a dominant performance. Ring and the Warriors took down Southeastern Community College 66-52 to claim the program's third consecutive Region championship.
The sophomore forward was a force on both ends of the court, totaling 19 points to go along with eight rebounds and four blocked shots. Ring finished the night 7-10 from the floor, including 2-4 from three-point range and 3-3 from the free throw line.
Ring currently leads the ICCAC in rebounds per game (6.9), field goal percentage (56.2 percent), and total blocks (56). The sophomore is also averaging 10.4 points per contest.
Indian Hills is set to host the NJCAA North Central District Championship Saturday night at the Hellyer Center against Dawson Community College (MT). The winner will earn an automatic bid to the upcoming NJCAA DI Men's Basketball National Championship in Hutchinson, KS. Tip-off against Dawson is set for 7:00 PM.
