WARRIORS EARN NO. 3 SEED AT NJCAA TOURNAMENT

Ottumwa, IA – For the second consecutive season, the Indian Hills Men's Basketball squad has earned the No. 3 overall seed in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Basketball Championship, announced during the official bracket reveal Monday night.

The Warriors, winners of the NJCAA Region 11 and NJCAA North Central District Championships, earned an automatic bid to the tournament with Saturday night's 80-75 win over Dawson Community College. With the win, the Warriors punched their ticket to the national tournament in Hutchinson, KS for the 21st time in program history, tied for fifth all-time. The Warriors' 21 trips since 1993 are second-most during the stretch behind Vincennes University (IN).

With the three seed in the tournament, the Warriors earned a bye to the second round and will open up play Monday, March 23 at 8:00 PM CST. Indian Hills will take on the winner of No. 14 seed Gulf Coast State College (FL) and No. 19 seed Brunswick Community College. The first round of the tournament gets underway Saturday, March 21 from the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

Indian Hills has now earned a top-three seed at the national tournament five times since the event became a seeded tournament in 2013. The Warriors have earned three No. 1 seeds, all since 2014.

Gulf Coast, who earned an at-large bid out of the NJCAA South Atlantic District, and Brunswick, winners of the NJCAA Atlantic District Championship, will square off Saturday night at 8:00 PM CST in the opening round. The Warriors have never faced either squad in the NJCAA National Tournament. Gulf Coast is making its first trip to 'Hutch' since 1972 while the Dolphins are making their fourth all-time trip to the national tournament.

Howard College (TX) earned the No. 1 overall in the tournament while College of Southern Idaho secured the No. 2 overall seed ahead of the Warriors. Indian Hills squared off against two national tournament teams during the regular season - No. 9 seed Snow College (UT) and No. 20 seed Mineral Area College (MO).
