Ottumwa -- Four members of the 2016 regional and district champion Indian Hills softball team -- Emily Garcia, Kassidi Henderson, Marissa Promes and Shyanne Dubois -- were recognized by the National Junior College Athletic Association for their work in the classroom during the past academic year.
Dubois earned the NJCAA Pinnacle Award for Academic Achievement given to those with a grade point average of 4.0. Garcia and Henderson received Superior Academic Achievement Awards for having GPAs between 3.80 and 3.99. Promes was given an Exemplary Academic Achievement Award for a GPA between 3.60 and 3.79.
The four softball players are among 27 Indian Hills student-athletes who earned NJCAA academic awards for this past year.
