RUBLE, SMITH EARN ICCAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomores Alivia Ruble (Lacona, IA/Southeast Warren) and Ava Smith (Waukee, IA/Waukee Northwest) carried the Indian Hills Softball team to three wins last week to earn Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week honors.

Ruble and Smith helped the Warriors split a non-league doubleheader at Danville Area Community College (IL) before sweeping Iowa Western Community College Saturday afternoon in a key ICCAC twinbill in Council Bluffs, IA. The Warriors have currently won five games in a row and sit atop the ICCAC standings with a 4-0 mark.

Smith has now been tapped as the ICCAC Offensive Player of the Week three times this year while Ruble collects her second ICCAC Pitcher of the Week honor.

Ruble went 1-0 on the week with two strong showings in the circle. The sophomore secured a win over Danville Area with just one earned run allowed on Monday before holding Iowa Western to just one earned run on Saturday. Ruble struck out five batters on the week to move to 5-5 on the year.

Smith continued an impressive stretch for the Warriors as the sophomore currently owns a 10-game hitting streak. In four matchups last week, Smith boasted a .571 batting average, going 8-14 at the plate with a home run and five RBI. Smith's home run against Iowa Western helped the Warriors complete the afternoon sweep.

On the year, Smith boasts a .453 batting average which ranks fifth-best in the ICCAC. The sophomore leads the Warriors with a .720 slugging percentage and .506 on-base percentage to goa long with a team-high 14 extra base hits.

The Warriors are set to return to action at R.L. Hellyer Field in Ottumwa on Thursday for a non-league doubleheader against North Central Missouri College. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM.
