Ottumwa, IA – Sophomores Courtney Locke (Bow, WA/Burlington-Edison) and Ashlynn Sheets (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) of the Indian Hills Softball team have been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Softball Athletes of the Week, announced Tuesday afternoon.

Locke and Sheets helped lead the Warriors to a pair of wins last week at R.L. Hellyer Field to extend the Warriors' win streak to nine games. Indian Hills defeated Rock Valley College (IL) 8-2 and 7-2 as Locke powered the offense and Sheets starred in the circle.

In two gams at the plate, Locke produced one of her most effective performances of her Indian Hills career. The sophomore went 4-7 in the doubleheader, connecting on two home runs while driving in six RBI to power the offense. Locke added four runs scored in the afternoon sweep of the Golden Eagles.

Locke entered Tuesday's matchup at Southeastern Community College riding an eight-game hitting streak while batting .419 on the year.

Sheets went the distance in game one vs. the Golden Eagles on Saturday, tossing all seven innings while allowing just two earned runs. Sheets struck out nine batters and issued just one free pass while scattering five base hits to earn her ninth victory of the season.

Heading into Tuesday's twinbill at Southeastern, Sheets sported a 10-4 record on the year with a 3.55 earned run average and 62 strikeouts.

The Warriors swept Southeastern on Tuesday afternoon in Burlington, IA to extend the team's winning streak to 13 games. Indian Hills will host Southwestern Community College for an ICCAC doubleheader on Saturday before hosting Iowa Western Community College for two games on Sunday.
