Ottumwa, IA – Freshmen Madisyn Busse (Geneseo, IL/Geneseo) and sophomore Maggie Grant (Onaway, MI/Inland Lakes) of the Indian Hills Softball team swept the weekly Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week honors, announced Tuesday afternoon.
The duo helped lead the Warriors to a pair of key wins to cap its week-long trip to Texas last week. Buysse powered the offense with a six-game hitting streak while Grant secured a pair of wins in the circle as the Warriors opened up their 2026 campaign.
Buysse proved to be the offensive catalyst for the Warriors, leading the team in nearly all major offensive statistical categories. Buysse went 10-21 (.476) at the dish, including three multi-hit contests in her first three collegiate games. The freshman infielder tallied a team-high seven runs scored and five RBI to boost the offense.
In the circle, Grant picked up two wins on the final day of the Highlander Games in Waco, TX. The sophomore hurler tossed 4.2 innings of relief work to secure an 11-5 win over Hill College (TX) in Sunday's opener. Grant saved her most dominant performance of the week for the team's finale, a 5-1 win over No. 4 nationally ranked McLennan Community College (TX). Grant tossed a complete game effort, scattering three hits with just one run allowed.
In 27.0 innings of work on the week, Grant stuck out 17 batters with a 2.59 earned run average.
The Warriors return to action February 18 with a trip to Gallatin, TN to take on Volunteer State Community College for a non-conference twinbill.
