Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Softball squad swept the weekly Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Softball Athlete of the Week honors, announced Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore Hannah Carter (Bethany, MO/South Harrison) and freshman Bailey Tegeler (Dixon, IL/Dixon) were honored for their efforts on the diamond.
The duo helped lead the Warriors to a 5-1 record on the week, including three ICCAC victories at R.L. Hellyer Field in Ottumwa. Carter was tapped as the ICCAC DI Softball Pitcher of the Week while Tegeler powered the offense to land ICCAC DI Softball Offensive Player of the Week recognition.
Tegeler was a force at the plate all week long for the Warriors, boasting a .500 batting average (10-20) to go along with three extra base hits, five RBI, 11 runs scored, and four stolen bases. Tegeler was a perfect 7-7 with two doubles and five runs scored in a doubleheader sweep over league foe Southwestern Community College on Sunday.
On the year, Tegeler leads the Warriors with a .409 batting average while boasting team-highs in runs (32) and stolen bases (9).
Carter lands her second ICCAC weekly honor this year after picking up a pair of wins in the circle for the Warriors. The sophomore earned a complete game victory over Southwestern Community College to go along with a victory against Highland Community College (KS).
On the week, Carter tossed 14.1 innings in three appearances. In Carter's two wins, the sophomore allowed just three earned runs as Indian Hills capped the week with five wins in six contests.
The Warriors are back in action April 3 at Marshalltown Community College for an ICCAC doubleheader.
