SIX WARRIORS NAMED TO ALL-REGION SOFTBALL TEAM

Ottumwa, IA – Six members of the Indian Hills Softball team have earned a spot on the 2026 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Region 11 team, announced by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) on Tuesday. The Warriors earned three first-team selections and three second-team honorees.

Sophomores Cassandra Benberg (Green Bay, WI/Pulaski) and Chandler Houselog (Dubuque, IA/Dubuque Hempstead) were joined by freshman Bailey Tegeler (Dixon, IL/Dixon) on the first-team. Sophomores Mary-Paige Withers (Le Claire, IA/Pleasant Valley) and Avery Kies (Iowa City, IA/Regina Catholic) and freshman Madisyn Buysse (Geneseo, IL/Geneseo) earned a spot on the All-Region second-team.

Benberg earned her second-career NJCAA All-Region nod after garnering second-team honors as a freshman in 2025. The sophomore appeared in 39 games while boasting a team-high .431 batting average, fourth-highest in the ICCAC this year. Benberg connected on 15 extra base hits on the year, including eight home runs while driving in 44 runners. The primary outfielder capped her two-year career at Indian Hills with a .411 batting average.

Houselog anchored the Indian Hills infield as the team's primary third baseman, appearing in all 49 contests. Houselog recorded career-high totals in nearly every major statistical category, including a .384 batting average and a team-high 48 RBI. In 151 at bats on the year, Houselog tallied just six strikeouts to boast a .467 on-base percentage.

Tegeler powered the Warrior offense from the leadoff spot with a .371 batting average on the year. The freshman led Indian Hills in runs (48), stolen bases (13), walks (33), and on-base percentage (.506). As the team's primary left fielder, Tegeler tallied seven outfield assists to go along with three double plays turned.

Withers collected her second-career All-Region honor after another standout season for the Warriors. The primary outfielder led the offense with a team-high 26 extra base hits, including nine home runs while boasting a .309 batting average. Withers added 40 RBI and 39 runs scored on the year.

Kies lands her first-career postseason honor after a breakout sophomore campaign for the Warriors. Kies guided the defense as the program's primary centerfielder, appearing in 44 ballgames on the year. The sophomore posted a career-high .315 batting average with 40 hits on the year. Kies committed just two errors in 98 total chances on the season for a .980 fielding percentage.

Buysse made an immediate impact during her debut season with the Warriors, leading the team with 63 hits and 16 doubles. Buysse capped the 2026 season with a .382 batting average while driving in 26 runs and scoring 42 times. The team's primary first baseman, Buysse added a .452 on-base percentage and a .545 slugging percentage to bolster the offense.
