Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Cassandra Benberg (Green Bay, WI/Pulaski) of the Indian Hills Softball team has been named a 2026 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Softball Second-Team All-American.
Benberg becomes the 52nd NJCAA All-American in program history, and the first for the Warriors since 2023. The sophomore was tapped as the Designated Player honoree on the NJCAA All-America Second-Team. Benberg is one of just three individuals from the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) to be named to the All-America squad, joining two members of the Iowa Western Community College program.
Benberg capped a standout two-year career at Indian Hills with an impressive sophomore campaign. Benberg led the Warrior offense with a career-high .431 batting average, tallying 47 hits, including 15 extra base knocks on the year. Benberg added 44 RBI while boasting a .725 slugging percentage and a .504 on-base percentage.
Benberg tallied 12 multi-hit contests on the year, including a 4-4 performance against Marshalltown on April 6. The sophomore was named the ICCAC DI Softball Athlete of the Week during the final stretch of the year in April.
Benberg boasted a career .411 batting average over the course of two seasons with the Warriors, collecting 88 career hits and 13 home runs while driving in 77 RBI in 76 career games.
