BASEBALL LANDS 10 ON ALL-REGION SQUAD

Ottumwa, IA – 10 members of the Indian Hills Baseball team have been named to the 2026 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Region 11 team, including four first-team honors, announced by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) on Monday afternoon.

The Warriors were led by four first-team honorees in sophomores Callum Donnelly (Bulli, Australia/New Mexico JC), Diego Mendez (Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico/ESCAED), and Yuan-Kai Chang (Taipei, Taiwan/Taipei Dai) along with freshman Gage Perri (Andrews, TX/TCS Post Grad). A pair of sophomores – Boris Rodriguez (San Sebastian, Puerto Rico/ESCAED) and Brody Geist (Arvada, CO/Standley Lake) were joined by freshman pitcher Maverick Scarpella (Thornton, CO/Broomfield) on the second-team while sophomores Connor Griess (Loveland, CO/Loveland), Jose Lopez (Las Tablas, Panama/Springfield Commonwealth), and Kevin Ramos (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Springfield Commonwealth) earned Honorable Mention recognition.

Along with Boris' All-Region honor, the sophomore was tapped as the 2026 ICCAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

Donnelly paced the offense throughout the duration of the year for the Warriors, boasting a .409 batting average, second-highest in the ICCAC and the highest average for the Indian Hills Baseball squad since 2008 among qualifying hitters. The sophomore outfielder ranked second in the league with 21 stolen bases and fifth overall with 46 RBI on the year. Donnelly boasted a total of 24 extra base hits, including nine home runs.

Mendez produced a breakout year at both second base and at the plate for the Warriors. Mendez ranked second overall on the team with a .349 batting average, totaling 44 hits, including 12 extra base knocks. The sophomore produced 31 RBI while scoring 32 runs. Mendez was a part of 16 double plays on the year while posting a .969 fielding percentage.

Chang starred on the mound for the Warriors, finishing an impressive two-year stint at Indian Hills. Chang led the ICCAC in wins (7) and strikeouts (70) while appearing in a league-high 68.0 innings of work. Chang capped his two-year career with 11 wins and 115 strikeouts while his 123.1 innings pitched rank fourth all-time (since 1994) for the Warriors.

Perri made an immediate impact as a rookie for the Warriors. The freshman, who manned third base for a majority of the year, posted a .345 batting average to go along with a team-high 10 home runs and 47 RBI. Perri, who was named ICCAC Athlete of the Week in March, added 30 runs scored and eight doubles on the year

Rodriguez anchored the Indian Hills defense at shortstop, starting 45 of the team's 47 games while boasting a .969 fielding percentage and turning a league-high 18 double plays. The sophomore produced career-highs in nearly every major statistical category, including average (.303), home runs (3), doubles (7), and runs (38).

Geist made the most of his time on the field for the Warriors, batting .338 at the plate with a pair of home runs and 17 RBI while scoring 20 runs. Geist was nearly flawless in the outfield for the Warriors, making just one error on the year.

Scarpella was an integral piece of the Warrior pitching staff during his debut season, appearing in 13 games while securing four wins to go along with a pair of complete games. In 58.0 innings of work, Scarpella struck out 53 batters for the Warriors.

Griess anchored the bullpen for head coach Dru Sebastian's squad, posting a 1-1 record with a team-high four saves and 15 appearance. Griess boasted a 10.93 K/9 rate while striking out 34 batters on the year.

Both Lopez and Ramos land their second consecutive All-Region honor after earning a spot on the 2025 squad as freshmen. Lopez proved to be a force behind the plate, tallying a league-high .526 RCS%, throwing out more runners (10) than stolen bases allowed (9). Lopez also bolstered the offense, hitting six home runs with 38 RBI on the year.

Despite a late-season injury, Ramos proved to be an integral piece of the Warrior offense. The sophomore tallied five runs and 25 RBI on the year while producing a total of 15 extra base knocks. Ramos finished the year with a .505 slugging percentage.
