WARRIORS ROLL TO ANOTHER WIN

CRESTON – Indian Hills golf romped to its second victory in as many outings this fall as the Warriors outclassed the field at Southwestern Community College’s War at the Moor in Creston on Friday.

IHCC followed up last week’s win at the Klocke Family Classic with a 41-stroke victory, easily outdistancing runner up Graceland after carding a team total of -11 under for the event.

“Eighteen holes goes fast and it was great for us getting ready to compete before our home event,” said IHCC head coach John Mulholland.  “Playing tournament golf again gives us a lot to be excited about.”

Sophomore Antoine Sale continues to sizzle this fall as he notched his second individual win after finishing with a 6-under 66 at the Crestmoor Golf Club.  Sale’s was only threatened by his teammates as IHCC’s seven participants took the top seven slots on the leader board.

“Having the whole team finish one through seven make for a lot of positivity in the van on the way home,”  added Mulholland.

Thomas Burou picked up his second straight runner-up finish with a 3-under 69, and he was followed by four Warriors knotted up at 1-under 71 (Harry Fearn, Max Hartmann, Blade Gadd and Cyril Henault.  Freshman Jake Calhoun rounded out the IHCC scorers by finishing seventh with a 1-over 73.

“Everyone really played fantastic, and didn’t make a whole lot of mistakes on a tricky local course,” said Mulholland.  “Two holes on the course could really mess a good round up without doing much wrong, and we didn’t allow that to happen which was great.

The Warrior coach predicts his back-to-back medalist and runner-up finishers will have to be reckoned with going forward.

“Antoine and Thomas played great again with a 66 and 69, and will be ones to watch for the remainder of our schedule.”

Indian Hills now turns its attention to Monday’s home event.  The Warrior Challenge at The Preserve at Rathbun Lake near Moravia will feature 36 holes on the one-day event.  IHCC will host NAIA foes William Penn and Mount Mercy, in addition to NJCAA opponents, Southwestern, Southeastern, Iowa Western and DMACC.  Play gets underway with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start Monday morning.

“All the guys will be competing again Monday and being on a team with a group like this will really help all ther games get to the next level,” Mulholland said.  “We are taking each day as it comes and making the best effort to play as well as we can every chance we get to tee it up.”

“As golfers, we are never satisfied and we have our minds set forward to our home event, which should produces a lot of good scores for us again.”
