Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Roman Roth (Wayland, IA/Washington) of the No. 1 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Golf team has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Golf Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Roth continued to star in the back half of the season for the Warriors with a dominant showing at the Wright State Invitational in Springboro, OH. Competing at the Heatherwood Golf Club, Roth tied for sixth overall with a 1-under, 212 after firing bookend rounds below par.
Roth's opening round 69 was the sophomore's third consecutive event with a round below 70. In total, Roth tallied 11 birdies throughout the duration of the two-day, three-round event as the Warriors placed second overall as a team.
Roth has now produced back-to-back top-10 individual finishes while posting five of his last eight rounds below par.
As a team, the Warriors have now earned eight ICCAC DI Golf Athlete of the Week honors across four different individuals - Roth, Miles Bollinger (x2), Nathan Pouchoulon (x2), and Charlie Preston (x3).
The Warriors will now enter postseason play with the upcoming National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Central District Championship April 27-28 at the River Cut Golf Course in Springfield, MO.
