Ottumwa, IA – For the second consecutive season, Indian Hills Men's Basketball Head Coach Cole Dewey has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Basketball Coach of the Year, announced by the league office on Monday.
Under Dewey's guidance, the Warriors have put together one of its most dominant seasons of all-time, boasting a current record of 30-2 while capturing the ICCAC regular season, National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 11, and NJCAA North Central District Championships. With the District title, the No. 2 nationally ranked Warriors punched their ticket to the NJCAA DI Men's Basketball National Championship in Hutchinson, KS for the 21st time in program history, tied for fifth-most all-time.

In addition to Dewey's honor, sophomore KJ Lamonte (Davenport, IA/New Mexico Highlands) was named the 2025-26 ICCAC DI Men's Basketball Player of the Year while a total of eight individuals were named to the 2025-26 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Basketball All-Region 11 squad.

Dewey, who surpassed 100 career wins for his collegiate coaching career earlier in the season, led the Warriors to 30 victories in a single season for the first time since 2019-20 and the 14th time in program history. The Warriors are currently riding an 18-game winning streak, the sixth-longest stretch over the last 20 seasons.
At the historic Hellyer Center, Dewey led the Warriors to an unbeaten record on its home court with a perfect 20-0 mark, the 11th undefeated season in Ottumwa.
Dewey led the Warriors to another undefeated mark in the ICCAC this season, boasting a 4-0 record against league foes to capture the regular season title for the second straight year. The Warriors rolled past Southeastern Community College in the NJCAA Region 11 title game and knocked off Dawson Community College (MT) for the NJCAA North Central District Championship to claim each postseason championship in back-to-back years under Dewey.
During the 2025-26 campaign, the Warriors have seen a number of accolades throughout the year. Indian Hills has racked up 14 ICCAC Athlete of the Week honors spread across eight different individuals.
While the offense has powered the Warriors to 30 wins on the year, ranking 21st overall in the nation in points per game (87.8), Dewey's defense has stymied opponents all year long. The Warriors currenty rank fifth overall in defensive rebounds per game (31.3) and ninth overall in opponent's field goal percentage (38.4). Overall, the Warriors currently rank seventh nationally in net efficiency with a 0.247 mark.
The Warriors will now await its official seed and future opponents for the upcoming national tournament. Indian Hills will learn its fate on Monday, March 16 at 5:00 PM CST with the official NJCAA Selection Show.
