KIPROP STARS FOR THE WARRIORS AT GRIFFON INVITE

St. Joseph, MO – Freshman Brian Kiprop (Eldoret, Kenya/Kingston College) produced an impressive showing at the Missouri Western Griffon Invitational on Saturday to place third overall in the 8k event.

Competing on an 8k course for the first time this season, Kiprop starred for the Warriors with a time of 25:16.22 to earn the third-place spot on the podium. Kiprop was the first member outside of host Missouri Western State University to cross the finish line.

Kiprop's breakthrough time is good enough for seventh all-time in school history.

Sophomore Bailey Taig (Perth, Western Australia/Quinn's Baptist College) provided another stellar performance on the course for the Warriors, placing fifth overall in the field of 52 athletes. Taig crossed the finish line in a time of 25:48.59, just 16 seconds off a personal-best mark.

Joining the duo was freshman Presley Berns (Evansdale, IA/Waterloo West) who posted a mark of 28:13.34 to place 24th overall while fellow freshman Tyler Stegemoller (Cedar Rapids, IA/Cedar Rapids Prairie) made his season debut with a time of 30:19.38 to place 40th overall.

The Warriors are now set to host their annual home meet, the Indian Hills Invitational on October 10 at Cedar Creek Golf Course in Ottumwa. Action gets underway at 4:00 PM.
