Cedar Falls, IA – The Indian Hills Sports Shooting squad is set to head to the Iowa Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) Collegiate Clay Target Championship at the Cedar Falls Gun Club in Cedar Falls, IA this weekend.
The two-day event will feature 11 programs from the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) competing for a state title. Action gets underway Saturday with the Trap Squads opening up at 11:00 AM with 100 targets followed by the second round of 100 targets at 2:00 PM. The Skeet Squads get underway at 10:30 AM on Sunday with 100 targets followed by the Sporting Clays squads at 2:00 PM with 100 targets.
"We've been practicing for the Iowa SCTP Collegiate Championships since the first week of March," stated head coach Jake Stalzer. "This spring has not been the best for any sport trying to get practice and competitions in, but we've made the best of it and I feel confident in my shooters going into this weekend's state tournament. We've also been able to get more practice rounds in than the fall due to us not being on a shortage of ammo. Thanks to Federal's Youth Shotshell Program we were able to get a pallet over winter and that has really paid off and been nice to not have to limit my student-athletes practice this spring."
The Warriors will feature three five-athlete trap squads in the trap events on Saturday.

"With this being the only competition on our schedule for spring, my student-athletes are really fired up about competing and getting after it up in Cedar Falls this weekend," Stalzer added. "The past few weeks we've had multiple 95+/100s from our shooters in that top trap squad, so things are looking good and hopefully they can carry that over to Saturday.
The Warriors will also send out five individuals to compete for the Skeet Squad championship as well as six individuals for the Sporting Clays championship to close out the weekend.

"The skeet/sporting clays squad has also been looking good down in Centerville with multiple perfect rounds and even a few straight 50's," Stalzer noted. "I feel confident we can carry that into this weekend. It'll be fun getting out and competing and having all the junior colleges in the state in the same spot for the weekend. The weather looks good pushing 80 degrees for Saturday, so there should be some great scores put up."
Indian Hills will be competing against Ellsworth, Hawkeye, Iowa Central, Iowa Lakes, Iowa Western, Kirkwood, Northeast Iowa, Northwest Iowa, Southeastern, and Southwestern.
