WARRIOR GUNS SWEEP ICCAC EAST SHOOT

Cedar Rapids, IA – The Indian Hills Shotgun Sports squad opened up its 2025 campaign with a sweep of Kirkwood Community College and Northeast Iowa Community College on Saturday, capturing a pair of Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) East Division Trap Dual victories.

The Warriors outlasted by conference foes by connecting on 481 targets. The Warriors topped Kirkwood 481-419 and Northeast Iowa 481-428. As a team, Indian Hills swept all three individual podium spots in both the men's and women's standings.

"Great start to the season for the squad," stated head coach Jake Stalzer. "12 out of our 15 competitors were in the 90's, so that was fantastic to see at our first competition of the year. Our top-five was a good mix of returners and newcomers."

Freshman Greyson Siegried (Burlington, IA/Burlington) and sophomore Isaac Weir (Albia, IA/Albia) led the Warriors individually as the duo both connected on 97 targets. Sophomores Riley Katzartones (Floris, IA/Davis County) and Jason Stursma (Harvey, IA/Pella) followed behind with 96 targets while freshman Johnathan Swan (Prairie City, IA/Prairie City-Monroe) rounded out the top-five individual finishes with 95 targets.

On the ladies side, the Warriors saw a standout performance from Holly Boeke (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskalooa) who tallied 93 targets. Freshman Megan Vos (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) placed second overall on the women's side with 91 targets followed by Josie Bunce's (Cedar Rapids, IA/Kennedy) 90 targets.

Joining the podium finishers with strong performances included Chase Bruns (Hubbard, IA/South Hardin) with 94 targets, Hayden Shaull (Brooklyn, IA/BGM) and Byron Di Prima (Nauvoo, IL/Warsaw) with 92 targets, and Barrett Carman's (Albia, IA/Albia) 91 targets

The 481 targets are just one off a program record of 482, which was set at the ACUI/SCTP National Championship in 2024 and tied again last year, also against Kirkwood and Northeast Iowa. The 62 target advantage over Kirkwood is the program's second-largest trap victory in program history.

Next up for the Warriors is the first and only home shoot of the year with a dual vs. ICCAC foe Southeastern Community College at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 20.

"We've been mainly focusing on getting back in the swing of things with trap," Stalzer added, "however, this week we'll start to implement some skeet and sporting into practice and prepare for Southeastern to come to town for our first home shoot."
