Ottumwa, IA – Freshman Megan Vos (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) of the Indian Hills Shotgun Sports squad has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Vos helped lead the Indian Hills Shotgun Sports squad to an impressive showing at the ICCAC East Division Skeet & Sporting Clays Shoot in Oskaloosa over the weekend. The freshman took home top honors in skeet and a runner-up finish in sporting clays.
As a team, the Warriors earned a first-place overall finish in sporting clays, outlasting league foes Hawkeye Community College and Southeastern Community College with 267 total targets. In the skeet shoot, the Warriors tied for first overall, but fell short in the tiebreaker with Hawkeye to earn a runner-up finish.
Vos tallied 97 total targets in skeet, including one round of 25 to earn a first-place tie in the event. Vos outlasted teammate Holly Boeke (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) in a shoot-off to take the top spot on the podium. Vos followed up with 88 targets in sporting clays to earn a second-place finish on the ladies side, just three targets off from the top spot.
Next up for Indian HIlls is the ICCAC / SCTP State Chamionships October 17-19 at the Stockdale Gun Club in Ackley, IA.
