Ackley, IA – The Indian Hills Shotgun Sports squad returned from the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) / Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) State Championship with a bevy of hardware after a strong showing at the Stockdale Gun Club. As a program, the Warriors placed fourth overall in the High Overall (HOA) standings.
Competing in six separate disciplines over the course of the three-day state shoot, the Warriors produced a top-five finish in all six categories, including a second-place showing in doubles skeet. Indian Hills also placed third overall in trap doubles for a well-rounded effort.
A number of individuals brought home hardware following impressive showings on the range. Freshman Holly Boeke (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) proved to be the top gun throughout the weekend for the Warriors, placing third overall in the ladies HOA with 573 total targets on the week. Boeke starred in doubles skeet with a first-place overall finish to lead the Warriors. Boeke added a third-place finish in skeet, a third-place finish in sporting clays, and a fourth-place finish in super sporting.
Teammate Megan Vos (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) placed second overall in sporting clays after edging Boeke in a shootoff. Vos added a fourth-place individual finish in doubles skeet and a fifth-place finish in super sporting. Emma Adams (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) took home a third-place showing in doubles skeet.
Boeke, Adams, and Vos placed in the top-seven in the HOA category, making Indian Hills the lone program with three females in the top-seven standings of the HOA category. Vos tallied 546 total targets on the week to place sixth while Adams' 542 targets was good enough for seventh.
On the men's side, freshman Chase Bruns (Hubbard, IA/South Hardin) tallied a fifth-place individual finish in trap. Bruns edged three individuals in a shootoff with a perefect round of 25 to earn the top-five individual finish.
This weekend's state shoot wrapped up the conclusion of the Warriors' fall schedule. Indian Hills will now aim its attention to the national shoot in San Antonio, TX in March.
