WARRIORS, SHAULL BRING HOME NATIONAL TITLES

San Antonio, TX – For the first time in program history, the Indian Hills Shotgun Sports program brought home national titles at the ACUI Clay Target Collegiate Championships at The National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, TX.

As a program, the Warriors captured the team ACUI Division IV CAA Trap National Championship after a standout performance on the range. Freshman Hayden Shaull (Brooklyn, IA/BGM) brought home the individual ACUI Class A Men's Trap National Championship after surviving a shoot-off on the final day of competition. The trip proved to be the Warriors' most successful showing at the national shoot in program history.

Shaull starred for the Warriors in the trap discipline with one of the most impressive showings of all-time for the Warriors. Shaull ran 100 straight targets in regulation to earn a spot in the ACUI Class A Trap Championship shoot-off on Saturday for a potential chance at a national title.

In the shoot-off, Shaull rattled off 25 consecutive targets to advance to the second round of the extra session. The freshman then connected on 24/25 targets in the second round to outlast the competition and take home the individual national title. Shaull's impressive performance outlasted 334 total shooters in Class A. Shaull was one of just 29 individuals across the five classifications, which consisted of 902 total male shooters, to fire a perfect round in regulation.

As a squad, the Warriors captured the team national title in trap for their respective division after a record-breaking performance. The Warriors' top-five marks of Shaull, Barrett Carman (Albia, IA/Albia), Greyson Siegfried (Burlington, IA/Burlington) Jason Stursma (Harvey, IA/Pella), and Johnathan Swan (Prairie City, IA/Prairie City-Monroe) posted a total of 491, a new Indian Hills program record. The Warriors' team mark ranked 15th overall out of 106 programs across all divisions competing at the national championships.

Shaull's 100-straight led the Warriors, but Carman, Stursma, and Swan all rattled off a career-high 98 targets to aid in the victory, while Siegfried's 97 capped a remarkable team effort for the Warriors.

Freshman Megan Vos (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) starred for the Warriors on the ladies side of competition. Vos placed 21st overall out of 241 total female shooter with 270 total targets across the three disciplines. The mark was good enough for a fourth-place individual finish in the women's CAA division and proved to be the most targets by a female at a national shoot in Indian Hills history. Vos thrived in Skeet for the Warriors, connecting on 98 total targets, the second-most among all female athletes at the competition.

As a squad, the Warriors nearly captured a third national title with a strong showing in Skeet. The Warriors' top five performers rattled off 474 targets, only three birds shy of the top mark. Vos led the way with 98 targets while Holly Boeke (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) put down 96 targets. Siegfried added 95 targets followed by 94 from Carman and 91 from Shaull. The 474 targets are also a new school record in Skeet for the Warriors.

In total, Vos' 270 targets led the all-around effort for the Warriors followed by 265 targets for Siegfried, which ranked 18th overall in the national leaderboards. Carman placed 24th overall with 262 targets while Boeke placed 17th overall in ladies division with 251 targets.

As a squad, the Warriors finished third overall in their respective division while the team placed 38th overall out of 106 teams in the CAA division.
