Burlington, IA – The No. 1 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Wrestling squad secured its first dual victory of the year, dropping Southeastern Community College 52-3 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) action Wednesday night.
The Warriors surged past the Blackhawks who were making their program debut at the Loren Walker Arena. The 52 team points are the second-most in school history while the result marks the fourth time in program history that the Warriors have eclipsed at least 50 team points in a dual match.
Freshman Ashton Grace (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) sparked the Warriors early at 125lbs with a 15-0 tech fall before Indian Hills picked up two forfeit victories. Freshman Jahkari Clark (Des Moines, IA/West Des Moines Valley earned a 15-0 tech fall at 149lbs to push the lead to 22-0.
Sophomore All-American Shehabeldin Mohamed (Alexandria, Egypt/Smouha Military) and Xavier Stermer (Scotts, MI/Portage Central) earned falls at 157lbs and 165lbs, respectively. Southeastern earned its lone win of the night at 174lbs, but Johnathan Clohecy (Sumterville, FL/The Villages) and Ryan Darnell (Quincy, IL/Quincy Notre Dame) picked up falls at 184lbs and 197lbs, respectively, to upend the Blackhawks.
Indian Hills is back in action at the Millikin Open in Decatur, IL on Saturday.
