Council Bluffs, IA – For the second consecutive season, the Indian Hills Men's Wrestling squad took home the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championship. The Warriors pulled away on the final day of competition at the Mid-America Center, capturing three individual national titles along the way.
The Warriors, who become just the 13th program in NJCAA history to repeat as national champions in the 65 years of the event, outlasted Western Wyoming Community College with 201.5 points to the Mustangs' 188.0 team points. Indian Hills claimed nine All-Americans for the second consecutive season, boasting two national runners-up to go along with the three individual championships.
One year removed from a record-setting season that saw the Warriors set an NJCAA record for team points, the Warriors shattered their previous mark from 2025 with the 201.5 points. Indian Hills becomes the first program in NJCAA history to surpass at least 150.0 team points in back-to-back seasons at the national championship
Sophomore Gavyn Whitehead (New Castle, IN/New Castle) became the program's first-ever two-time national champion after winning the 141lb bracket for the second consecutive season. Freshmen Olli Webb (Tunnel Hill, GA/Southeast Whitfield) and Jahkari Clark (Des Moines, IA/West Des Moines Valley) joined Whitehead on top of the podium with national titles in the 133lb and 149lb brackets, respectively.
The Warriors become the first program since Iowa Central Community College in 2017 to earn three individual national champions and just the third program overall over the course of the last 10 seasons.
Sophomores Shehabeldin Mohamed (Alexandria, Egypt/Smouha Military) and Cinsere Clark (Des Moines, IA/West Des Moines Valley) became two-time All-Americans for the Warriors after earning runner-up finishes in their respective brackets. Fellow sophomores Mohamed Tarek Abdelhady (Alexandria, Egypt/Sports Military School), Andrew Marquez (Rock Island, IL/Rock Island), and Naasir Edmonds (Virginia Beach, VA/Landstown) joined the flurry of Warriors to repeat as All-Americans after earning top accolades as freshmen last season.
Freshman Johnathan Clohecy (umterville, FL/The Villages) rounded out the All-American performances for the Warriors with a sixth-place showing in the 184lb bracket.
Whitehead starred for the Warriors with a remarkable run to his second consecutive title. The sophomore posted four consecutive bonus victories, including three falls to advance to Saturday night's championship bout. Whitehead cruised in the final bout, outlasting Cowley College's (KS) Evan Rodriguez, the No. 2 overall seed in the bracket 14-7. The No. 1 nationally ranked pound-for-pound wrestler in the nation this season caps one of the most dominant careers in junior college history, capturing two national titles along with two NJCAA North Central District championships.
Webb built an impressive resume on his way to the finals as the No. 5 overall seed. The freshman secured a tech fall, a pin, and two majors to punch his ticket under the lights Saturday night. In the finals, Webb battled through regulation before a late three-point takedown in the first overtime secured the program's first-ever 133lb national champion.
Clark, the ICCAC Men's Wrestler of the Year, was dominant throughout the duration of the tournament, saving one of his most impressive showings for the title bout. Clark, the No. 3 overall seed outscored his first four opponents 66-18 to advance to the finals. Clark controlled every facet of the match in the championship against No. 4 seed Kyler Tabor of Labette Community College (KS) to secure a 17-3 major decision. Clark becomes the program's first-ever 149lb national champion.
In addition to the men's program, the women's wrestling squad captured their sixth consecutive national title, including their fourth consecutive NJCAA National Invitational championship.
