Centerville, IA – No. 1 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Wrestling made quick work of No. 15 Southwestern Michigan College on Thursday night, dropping the Roadrunners 38-3 at the Multi-Purpose Building in a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) clash.
The Warriors took home nine of 10 matches on the night, including six victories via bonus points. The Warriors, taking on the Roadrunners for the first time in program history, improve to 5-0 in dual action this season, running its dual win streak to 19 matches dating back to the 2023-24 season. Indian Hills has now outscored its opponents 208-28 this year.
After an opening round loss at 125lbs, the Warriors rattled off nine consecutive victories, including four wins over nationally ranked opponents to cruise to its fifth consecutive dual win to open the year. Freshman Olli Webb (Tunnel Hill, GA/Southeast Whitfield) opened the team scoring at 133lbs with an electric performance. Webb scored a quick three-point takedown in the opening seconds and never looked back on his way to a 23-7 tech fall.
Sophomore Alan Cordero (Cedartown, GA/Darlington) battled to an 18-7 major decision at 141lbs to give Indian Hills a 9-3 advantage. Freshman Jahkari Clark (Des Moines, IA/West Des Moines Valley) brought the crowd to its feet with a late takedown in the third period to earn a 7-6 decision at 149lbs over No. 7 nationally ranked Dylan McLean.
Sophomore All-American Shehabeldin Mohamed (Alexandria, Egypt/Smouha Military) picked up an impressive fall in 2:37 at 157lbs over No. 10 ranked Will Kennedy. Mohamed Tarek Abdelhady (Alexandria, Egypt/Sports Military School) continued the Warriors' dominance with a 20-5 tech fall at 165lbs over No. 3 nationally ranked and national qualifier Dayveon Rupert to push the lead to 23-3.
Sophomore All-American Cinsere Clark (Des Moines, IA/West Des Moines Valley) rolled to a 14-1 major at 174lbs before freshman Johnathan Clohecy (Sumterville, FL/The Villages) secured a dominant 18-1 tech fall at 184lbs.
Freshman Ryan Darnell (Quincy, IL/Quincy Notre Dame), making his home debut, ignited the Warriors late in the match with a thrilling 5-1 decision at 197lbs. Darnell used a late takedown in the closing minute to pull out the victory.
In the final bout of the night, sophomore Justin Brown (Borden, IN/Floyd Central persevered down the stretch to outlast Chaz Underwood. Brown earned a three-point takedown with 15 seconds late to pull out a 5-1 decision and cap the Warrior win.
Indian Hills will now head to the Buena Vista University Open in Storm Lake, IA this weekend.
