NO. 1 WARRIORS DOMINATE ART KRAFT TOURNAMENT

River Grove, IL – The No. 1 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Wrestling team brought home six individual champions from the 35th annual Art Kraft Memorial Tournament on Saturday. In total, the Warriors boasted 16 individual place winners in River Grove, including 12 top-three finishes.

Indian Hills recorded the most individual champions and most individual place winners across 15 teams competing at one of the premiere events in junior college wrestling. The Warriors secured titles at 133lbs from freshman Olli Webb (Tunnel Hill, GA/Southeast Whitfield), co-champions at 149lbs from sophomore Keaton Morton (Indianapolis, IN/Perry Meridian) and freshman Jahkari Clark (Des Moines, IA/West Des Moines Valley), 165lbs from sophomore Mohamed Tarek Abdelhady (Alexandria, Egypt/Sports Military School), at 174lbs from sophomore Cinsere Clark (Des Moines, IA/ West Des Moines Valley), and freshman Julian Weems (Greenwood, IN/Center Grove) at 184lbs.

The Warriors also earned five runner-up finishes on the day – freshman Charlie Dykes (Kingsville, MO/Lee's Summit North) at 125lbs, Shehabeldin Mohamed (Alexandria, Egypt/Smouha Military) at 157lbs, Johnathan Clohecy (Sumterville, FL/The Villages) at 184lbs, Ryan Darnell (Quincy, IL/Quincy Notre Dame) at 197lbs, and Naasir Edmonds (Virginia Beach, VA/Landstown) at 285lbs.

Webb secured all four of his victories at 133lbs by bonus, including three tech falls and a pin. Webb, ranked No. 5 in the nation, earned a 21-5 victory in the championship bout to earn a spot on the podium. In total, Webb outscored his opponents 63-11.

Morton and Jahkari Clark ran through the 149lb bracket with three victories apiece before ending up as co-champions for the Warriors. Morton picked up an opening round fall in 28 seconds before adding another fall in 4:05 in the semifinal round. Clark tallied an opening round pin in 16 seconds and used a 22-6 tech fall in the semifinals.

With the three wins, Clark now leads the Warriors with 17 victories on the year with just one loss.

Abdelhady cruised through the 165lb bracket, earning two falls to take home the title. Abdelhady opened the day with a first round pin 1:37 and used a fall in 3:54 in the championship match.

Cinsere Clark continued an impressive start to his sophomore campaign, going 3-0 to earn a first-place finish for the Warriors. Clark used back-to-back major decisions by scores of 10-0 and 12-2, respectively, to advance to the finals. Clark dominated Zachary Clark of Bryant & Stratton College (WI) 16-1 in the finals to earn the top spot.

Weems was impressive at 184lbs, earning three falls to go undefeated on the day. The freshman picked up an opening round pin in 1:40 before a semifinal fall in 59 seconds. Trailing 7-4 in the championship match vs. Clohecy, Weems earned a pin in 4:02 to take home his first individual title of his collegiate career.

The Warriors now head into the holiday break and will return to action Sunday, January 11 at the Missouri Baptist Open in St. Louis, MO.
