Centerville, IA – The Indian Hills Men's Wrestling squad, winners of the 2026 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) North Central District Championship, swept the annual postseason awards, announced by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) on Wednesday.
Head coach Cole Spree was tapped as the ICCAC Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season while freshman standout Jahkari Clark (Des Moines, IA/West Des Moines Valley) was named the ICCAC Men's Wrestler of the Year.
Clark has put together a remarkable freshman campaign for the Warriors. The freshman took home the 2026 NJCAA North Central District 149lb Championship with a thrilling run to the title. Clark, ranked No. 2 in the nation in the latest NJCAA rankings, entered the tournament as the No. 4 overall seed. Clark rolled through the bracket with three consecutive victories, including an opening round fall and back-to-back upset wins over the No. 1 and No. 3 seeded wrestlers in the tournament.
For his efforts, Clark became the second consecutive Warrior to capture the 149lb District Championship.
On the year, Clark has posted a 26-5 overall record on the year with four falls, four major decisions, and 11 tech falls, second-most in a single season in school history. Clark posted a 4-1 overall record in ICCAC action on the year with his lone loss to Logan Crowther of Iowa Western Community College. Clark came back to defeat Crowther in the championship bout of the District Championship.
Spree, who led the Warriors to the program's first-ever national championship a year ago, captured his fourth-career ICCAC Coach of the Year honor, including two from his tenure at Ellsworth (2013, 2019) and back-to-back honors in 2025 and 2026. Under Spree's tutelage, the Warriors have claimed back-to-back NJCAA North Central District Championships in addition to the program's first-ever District crown in 2021.
The Warriors cruised through the 2025-26 regular season, posting a 9-0 dual mark to claim the program's second consecutive undefeated dual season. In total, Indian Hills has won 23 consecutive duals dating back to 2023. During the streak, the Warriors have outscored their opponents 895-179.
The 2025-26 campaign saw the Warriors, ranked No. 1 in the nation throughout the duration of the year, knock off five nationally ranked opponents. Indian Hills outscored its nine foes 353-63 on the year. The Warriors set a new program record for average points per dual with 39.2.
With the District title in hand, the Warriors qualified all 10 individuals to the upcoming NJCAA National Championship in Council Bluffs, IA March 6-7.
