NJCAA MEN'S WRESTLING INVITATIONAL - DAY ONE RESULTS
Council Bluffs, IA – The defending national champion Indian Hills Men's Wrestling squad sits in second place with 125.5 team points after the opening day of the 2026 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championship.
The Warriors currently boast seven individuals in the championship bracket, tied with first-place Wester Wyoming Community College. The Warriors also place two individuals in the consolation bracket heading into the final day of competition on Saturday.
Indian Hills, who captured the program's first-ever national championship in 2025, hold a comfortable lead over third-place Clackamas Community College (OR) who earned 101.5 points on day one at the Mid-America Center.
125lbs - Charlie Dykes
Dykes dropped his opening round bout by way of fall, but battled back through the consolation bracket with three consecutive victories, including a fall in 1:40 to make a late push. Dykes eventually fell in the consolation round of eight to bow out of the tournament.
133lbs - Olli Webb
Webb, the No. 5 overall seed in the bracket, made a dominant run through the field to punch his ticket to Saturday's semifinal bout. Webb has picked up three bonus victories - one tech fall, one major decision, and one pin to stand as one of the final four. Through the first three bouts, Webb has outscored his opponents 45-9.
141lbs - Gavyn Whitehead
The defending national champion at 141lbs has held strong as the top overall seed through the first day. Whitehead opened the day with a pin in 1:57 before a 21-5 tech fall. In the quarterfinal round, Whitehead secured a pin in 2:57 to advance to the semifinals on Saturday. Whitehead will square off against No. 4 seed Dmitri Alarcon of Western Wyoming, Whitehead's opponent in the 2025 national championship bout.
149lbs - Jahkari Clark
The 2026 ICCAC Wrestler of the Year has cruised into the semifinal round with three consecutive tech falls. Clark, the No. 3 overall seed, has outscored his three opponents 62-17, including an impressive 21-6 win in the quarterfinal round. All four top seeds in the bracket have advanced to the semifinal round on Saturday.
157lbs - Shehabeldin Mohamed
One of just two double-digit seeds remaining the championship round across the 10 brackets, Mohamed has made a thrilling run to the semifinals as the No. 10 overall seed. Following a 21-5 tech fall and a pin in 28 seconds, the sophomore All-American earned back-to-back upset decisions to earn a trip to the semifinals. Mohamed knocked off the No. 2 seed 4-3 to earn a spot in Saturday's championship bracket.
165lbs - Mohamed Tarek Abdelhady
A returning All-American, Abdelhady has been on a tear through the early stages of the national tournament. The sophomore has secured three consecutive falls as the No. 3 overall seed, including a quarterfinal pin in 1:22. Abdelhady, who will face No. 2 seed Henry Dillingham of Clackamas on Saturday, outscored his opponents 31-6 on the opening day.
174lbs - Cinsere Clark
Clark earned a trip to the semis with two tech falls before a thrilling overtime victory in the quarters to punch his ticket to the final four. Clark scored a three-point takedown with six seconds remaining in the second overtime to knock off No. 5 seed Jaxon Trotter of Cowley (KS). Clark, the No. 4 seed, will match up with top-seeded Damarcus Powe of Iowa Central.
184lbs - Johnathan Clohecy
Clohecy picked up three consecutive wins to open the day before falling in the quarterfinal round. The freshman, making his nationals debut, earned a tech fall, a pin, and a decision before a 13-7 loss. Clohecy battled back in the consolation bracket with a victory and will now compete as one of the final four in the consolations on Saturday.
197lbs - Andrew Marquez
All four top seeds punched their tickets to the semis in the 197lb bracket, including the defending national champion Andrew Marquez. Marquez rolled through the early stages with back-to-back falls before a major and a 9-2 decision. Marquez will match up with No. 2 overall seed Troy Palmer of Iowa Western on Saturday, the third meeting between the two this year.
285lbs - Naasir Edmonds
Edmonds will look to earn another All-American bid through the consolation bracket after falling in the quarterfinals. The returning All-American earned back-to-back victories to open the day before a pin in the quarters. Edmonds secured a win in the consolation round of eight to earn a trip to Saturday's bout.
