SENIOR AFRICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS - RESULTS
Alexandria, Egypt – Two members of the Indian Hills Men's Wrestling squad starred at the 2026 Senior African Championships over the weekend. Shehabeldin Mohamed (Alexandria, Egypt/Smouha Military) and Mohamed Tarek Abdelhady (Alexandria, Egypt/Sports Military School), both members of the back-to-back Indian Hills national championship squads, captured podium finishes in their respective weight class.
Competing in the 65kg bracket, Mohamed brought home the gold medal in a thrilling championship match. Representing his native Egypt, Mohamed secured a fall in two minutes to knock off Stephen Akintewe of Nigeria. Mohamed finished with a perfect 3-0 record in the event, including an overtime victory in the semifinals.
Abdelhady took home a runner-up finish in the 79kg bracket to earn the silver medal. Abdelhady used a pair of dominant performances in the early stages to advance to the finals and earn a spot on the podium.
The duo helped lead the Indian Hills Men's Wrestling squad over the past two seasons as the Warriors captured back-to-back National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championships. Both Abdelhady and Mohamed were named NJCAA All-Americans during each of the past two seasons in addition to National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American honors.
