Ottumwa -- "Indian Hills was my favorite college out of the ones that were interested in me." That's what English soccer player Georgia Reece said when asked why she signed a letter of intent to attend IHCC and play soccer for the Warriors this fall. Reece is a right or left full back from Higham, Kent, England who was named the young player of the year for her team, the Gillingham Ladies, for 2014-15.
Reece is a graduate of the Gillingham Centre of Excellence and also played for the Kent Ladies. She knows Sophie Ledger, another English standout who plays for the Warriors. "I felt as if I'd get on well (at Indian Hills)," Reece said. "It offered the most opportunity for me. Sophie has nothing but positives to talk about from her experience at the college."
"Georgia comes with a wealth of experience," said IHCC coach Stephanie Gale. "She is a very talented player who is athletic and her speed allows her to use her body and strength. She reads the game well and is a defender that builds a foundation of trust with her teammates. Her ability to read the game means she puts herself in good position to cut off passes and also cover teammates when needed."
Gale said Reece will be a key player for Indian Hills in 2016. Although she is a defender she can push up with the attack and will fit in immediately with the style of soccer the Warriors play.
"Off the field, Georgia has a great supportive family who will connect well with the other parents of players," the IHCC coach said. "We are very excited to see the growth of Georgia over the next two years as she progresses and evolves as a player."
The Indian Hills recruit said, "I think Indian Hills will be a great step for me, helping me to adapt to the American lifestyle. Everything about the situation excites me and I can't wait to get there!"
