Corsicana, TX – The Indian Hills Women's Soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss to No. 5 nationally ranked Navarro College (TX) in the team's season opener on Friday.
The Warriors used a second half goal from sophomore Kiara Levac (Sudbury, Canada/E.S.C. I'Horizon) to even the game at 1-1, but the Bulldogs answered with a pair of strikes in the closing minutes to escape with the win. Navarro moves to 2-0-0 all-time vs. the Warriors, including a narrow 2-1 win in Ottumwa last year.
Levac's goal, her eighth career score, came on an assist from fellow sophomore Arnicka Louis (Castries, Saint Lucia/Sir Ira Simmons). The duo led the Warriors in scoring a season ago.
Freshman Annabelle Combes (Valence, France/Tezenas du Montcel) worked all 90 minutes in net to earn the decision in her collegiate debut for the Warriors.
Indian Hills is back in action Sunday vs. Cisco College (TX) at 11:00 AM in Cisco, TX.
