Ottumwa, IA – With the nation's longest winning streak at seven matches, the Indian Hills Women's Soccer squad moved up to No. 12 in this week's National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Women's Soccer Poll, released Monday afternoon.
The Warriors earned their highest national rank since the final poll of the 2021 regular season after receiving 63 votes from the national voting committee this week. The Warriors are tied for the most wins in the NJCAA this year while the team's seven match winning streak is the longest in the nation.
The Warriors secured three more victories last week, including a pair of road wins in Illinois, including a win over then-No. 16 Lewis & Clark Community College (IL), 4-1. During its winning streak, the Warriors have outscored their opponents 26-2 on the year. The Warriors currently rank eighth nationally with 27 goals on the year while the team's 0.50 goals against average ranks 13th best in the NJCAA.
Daytona State College (FL) heled on to the top spot in the nation poll followed by Arizona Western College, Salt Lake Community College (UT), Navarro College (TX), and Iowa Western Community College.
Freshman keeper Annabelle Combes (Valence, France/Tezenas du Montcel) currently leads the NJCAA in goalie wins. Offensively, Arnicka Louis (Castries, Saint Lucia/Sir Ira Simmons) ranks sixth in the nation with 20 points on the year while fellow sophomore Kiara Levac (Sudbury, Canada/E.S.C. I'Horizon) ranks ninth with 18 points. Ella Forsyth (Grimes, IA/Dallas Center-Grimes) also ranks in the top-20 with 15 points on the year.
Originally scheduled to play Illinois Central Community College on the road this week, the match with the Cougars has been cancelled. Next up for Indian Hills is a home date with Lincoln Trail College (IL) at 3:30 PM on Saturday afternoon.
