Ottumwa, IA – Following an impressive week on the pitch for the No. 12 nationally ranked Indian Hills Women's Soccer squad, sophomore Ella Forsyth (Grimes, IA/Dallas Center-Grimes) has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCA) DI Women's Soccer Player of the Week.
Forsyth adds on to her weekly accolades after earning Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week honors on Tuesday. The sophomore powered the Warriors to a 3-0-0 week to push Indian Hills up to No. 12 in the latest national rankings.
Forsyth, who was tallied two weekly ICCAC Athlete of the Week honors for the Warriors, becomes the fifth Indian Hills Women's Soccer student-athlete to earn NJCAA National Player of the Week honors in program history.
Forsyth continued a solid stretch of play, scoring a goal in each match last week to extend her streak to four games. The sophomore tallied a pair of goals in the win over Iowa Lakes before adding a goal and an assist vs. Lewis & Clark. Forsyth added the eventual game-winning goal in the win over Southwestern Illinois.
On the year, Forsyth has tallied six goals and three assists for a total of 15 points which currently ranks in the top-20 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
Originally scheduled to play Illinois Central Community College on the road this week, the match with the Cougars has been cancelled. Next up for Indian Hills is a home date with Lincoln Trail College (IL) at 3:30 PM on Saturday afternoon.
