WARRIORS TO HOST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MATCH

WARRIORS TO HOST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MATCH

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Women's Soccer team is set to host Domestic Violence Awareness Day on Saturday, October 11 as part of the Warriors' home match vs. Northeast Community College at the IHCC Soccer Complex at 3:00 PM.

To raise awareness as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Warriors will wear custom purple uniforms to show support. Indian Hills will also be collecting personal care items throughout the week, as well as at the home match on Saturday to donate to local organizations.

"In relationships and marriages we are meant to be loving, supportive people," stated head coach Jon Hussak. "Where things take a dark turn is when domestic violence enters the picture. That's why we are looking to bring this issue to the forefront of awareness for the month of October. Every year we hear of horror stories of domestic violence of our friends and family members, and we are proud to stand with survivors and those that may need support through these experiences. We are proud to put on the purple uniform for Saturday's game to let our city, state, and nation know that Indian Hills Women's Soccer are with survivors, always."

Admission to Saturday's match is free of charge. Fans are encouraged to bring personal care items for donation.

This year's theme for Domestic Violence Awareness Month is 'With Survivors, Always'. Domestic Violence Awareness Month is a national campaign dedicated to raising awareness about domestic violence. Every October, organizations and individuals unite across the country for a national effort to uplift the needs, voices, and experiences of survivors. Congress declared the month of October to be Domestic Violence Awareness Month in 1989.
