Ottumwa, IA – For the third time this season, freshman Cindy Rose (Brown's Town, Jamaica/Holmwood Technical) of the Indian Hills Women's Track & Field squad has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Rose produced another dominant performance on the track for the Warriors to add to her impressive freshman campaign. Competing at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, IA, Rose starred in the 600-yard run, placing third overall with a school record time of 1:22.72. Rose was the top junior college finisher in the event.
Rose's mark not only shattered the school record, but proved to be the fifth-fastest all-conditions time in the event in National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) history.
Rose has now set three school records in her inaugural season and ranks second all-time in two additional categories.
The Warriors are back in action this weekend with a pair of events – the Ichabod Invitational in Topeka, KS and the Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, KS.
