WARRIORS HOLD STRONG IN TOP-10 OF USTFCCCA POLL

USTFCCCA TFRI RANKINGS - CHECKPOINT 4

Ottumwa, IA – Heading into postseason action, the Indian Hills Women's Track & Field squad checked in at No. 9 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National TFRI Poll, released Tuesday afternoon.

The Warriors continued to hold strong in the national top-10 after a strong showing at both the Ichabod Invitational in Topeka, KS and the Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, KS over the weekend. The Warriors earned 128.93 points in this week's poll to crack the top-10 for the fourth consecutive week.

Indian Hills currently boasts 23 top-28 national marks across 12 separate events. Freshman standout Cindy Rose (Brown's Town, Jamaica/Holmwood Technical) currently ranks first in the nation in the 800-meter run event with a mark of 2:09.67, set back on January 23 at the Cyclone Open. Rose also ranks second nationally in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:35.08.

The Distance Medley Relay group consisting of Tiffani Koonce (Prairie City, IA/Prairie City-Monroe), Alexa Zanders (Waterloo, IA/Waterloo West), Abby George (Albia, IA/Albia), and Rose starred at the Gorilla Classic this past weekend, shattering the previous school record by more than a minute with a time of 12:09.24. The quartet's mark is currently the third-best time in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) this year.

Rose, Zanders, and George, along with teammate Nyla Blackmon (Memphis, TN/Southwind) currently boast the fourth-ranked 4x400-meter relay squad with a time of 3:48.61 while George checked in at No. 5 in the nation in the latest ratings in the 600-meter run with a current personal-best time of 1:35.64.

The Warriors' run of four consecutive weeks in the top-10 is the second-longest stretch in school history. Indian Hills has been ranked as high as No. 6 in the nation this year.

Next up for the Warriors is the NJCAA Region 11 Championship February 20-21 in Storm Lake, IA at the Lambert Recreation Center.
