Ottumwa, IA – For the fourth time this season, freshman Cindy Rose (Brown's Town, Jamaica/Holmwood Technical) has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Track Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Rose, who was previously named the ICCAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week three times and the ICCAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week once in the fall, lands her first outdoor accolade from the conference. The freshman starred for the No. 12 nationally ranked Warriors at the Arkansas Spring Invitational in Fayetteville, AR on Saturday.
Rose set her fifth-career school record, including fourth indiviudal mark and first of the outdoor season, with a dominant showing in the 800-meter run at historic John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville. The freshman posted a runner-up finish in the event with a time of 2:09.14, surpassing previous national champion Aliyah Simmons' time of 2:12.50.
Rose's mark is now the top overall time in the nation this year.
The Warriors return to action April 18 with the Pittsburg State University Tune-Up in Pittsburg, KS.
