NO. 1 WARRIORS REMAIN UNBEATEN IN ICCAC ACTION

Waterloo, IA – The No. 1 nationally ranked Indian Hills Women's Wrestling squad surged past No. 6 ranked Hawkeye Community College 35-17 in an Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) dual in Waterloo.

The Warriors improve to 3-0 in ICCAC duals on the year with its third consecutive victory of at least 18 points. Indian Hills has now outscored its three conference foes 129-32 on the year.

In the win over the Redtails, Indian Hills secured eight of the 11 matchups on the night, including five pins and three tech falls. Indian Hills scored individual victories in five of the first six bouts of the night.

After dropping the opening match at 103lbs, defending national champion and No. 1 nationally ranked Ariah Mervilus (Virginia Beach, VA/Landstown) secured a pin in 4:55 to even the match at 5-5. The Warriors earned a forfeit win at 117lbs before Arianna McCullum (Mendenhall, MS/Mendenhall) earned a 10-0 tech fall in just 3:50 of mat at 124lbs.

Freshman Kaylea Beauchamp (Jeffersonville, IN/Jeffersonville), ranked No. 2 in the nation, earned a fall at 131lbs in 4:57 to give the Warriors a comfortable advantage, 19-5.

No. 4 ranked Jasmine Wolfe (Sedalia, MO/Smith-Cotton) added an 11-1 tech fall at 138lbs. The Redtails cut into the lead at 145lbs, but the Warriors secured wins in three of the final four bouts, including a 10-0 tech fall at 180lbs from No. 1 ranked Paola Rodriguez (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico/Rosalina C. Martinez) and a Kennedi Johnson-Washington (Greenwood, SC/Greenwood) pin in 2:16 at 235lbs.

Next up for the Warriors is the Missouri Baptist Open Friday, January 16 in St. Louis, MO.
