Council Bluffs, IA – For the sixth consecutive year, the Indian Hills Women's Wrestling squad brought home a national championship after capturing the 2026 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Invitational Saturday night at the Mid-America Center. The Warriors ran away with the team title once again, securing 229.0 team points.
The Warriors brought home two individual national champions in freshmen Gabriela Avila Diaz (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Academia Bautista De Puerto Nuevo) at 124lbs and Azreal Smith (Tulsa, OK/Union) at 235lbs in addition to 12 total All-Americans. The Warriors' outlasted second-place Southeast Community College (NE) by 25.5 team points. Iowa Central Community College, Umpqua Community College (OR), and Murray State College (OK) rounded out the top-five.
The most dominant junior college women's wrestling program of all-time, the Warriors continued an unprecedented run, capturing the program's sixth straight national title, including four consecutive championships at the NJCAA level. Head coach Darren Wynn claimed his second consecutive title at the helm of the program for the Warriors.
Along with the Warriors' two individual national champions, Indian Hills brought home four national runner-up finishes in Kaylea Beauchamp (Jeffersonville, IN/Jeffersonville) at 131lbs, Jasmine Wolfe (Sedalia, MO/Smith-Cotton) at 138lbs, Paola Rodriguez (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico/Rosalina C. Martinez) at 180lbs, and Hannah Francis (Little Elm, TX/Coppell) at 235lbs.
Diaz put together one of the most dominant runs of the entire tournament as the freshman did not allow a single point in five matches at the Mid-America Center. Diaz, who outscored her opponents 44-0 throughout the tournament, becomes the program's first-ever 124lb national champion.
Smith brought home the program's fourth consecutive 235lb national championship after going unbeaten as the No. 2 overall seed for the Warriors. Smith earned an opening round fall before a 4-1 decision to advance to the finals. For the third time in four years, two Warriors battled it out in the championship match of the 235lb bracket as Smith outlasted Francis for the national title.
As a program, Indian Hills has now produced 18 national champions over the course of the past six seasons.
In addition to the women's program, the men's wrestling squad captured their second consecutive national title on Saturday.
