Centerville, IA – Freshman Gabriela Avila Diaz (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Academia Bautista De Puerto Nuevo), the 2026 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) 124lb National Champion, has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Diaz proved to be one of the top performers at the 2026 NJCAA National Invitational as the Warriors ran away with the team title, the program's sixth consecutive national championship. Indian Hills produced 229.0 points to outlast Southeast Community College (NE) to hoist the trophy once again.

Diaz put together one of the most dominant runs of the entire tournament as the freshman did not allow a single point in five matches at the Mid-America Center. Diaz, who outscored her opponents 44-0 throughout the tournament, becomes the program's first-ever 124lb national champion.
