Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Pablo Marques (João Pessoa, Brazil/Colegio Meta) led the Indian Hills Men's Soccer team to a pair of wins over the weekend behind two hat trick performances to earn National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Soccer Player of the Week recognition.
After opening the season 0-1-1, the Warriors relied on Marques to get the team in the win column. The sophomore responded with a hat trick on August 27 in an 8-1 win over Bryant & Stratton (WI). Marques followed up his performance with three more goals in a 4-0 win over John Wood on August 29 to help the Warriors finish the Indian Hills Classic 2-0-0.
Marques was credited with one game-winning goal and converted his lone penalty kick on the week as well. The sophomore transfer from Camden County Community College (NJ), Marques currently leads the NJCAA with six goals and 12 points on the year.
Indian Hills returns to action on Saturday with a 3:00 PM match vs. NIACC at Schafer Stadium.
