Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Men's Soccer squad swept the weekly Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week awards on Tuesday. Sophomores Diego Lazaro (Laval, Canada/Horizon-Jeunesse) and Vittorio Bellesi (Breno, Italy/Olivelli Putelli) were honored by the conference office.
Lazaro was tapped as the conference's top offensive performer while Bellesi garnered top defensive recognition after the duo led the No. 2 nationally ranked Warriors to a 7-0 shutout of Crowder College (MO) on its home pitch Saturday afternoon. The honor is the second-career Athlete of the Wek accolade for both individuals.
Lazaro powered the offense with two goals and an assist as the Warriors ran past the Roughriders, the team's lone matchup of the week. Lazaro tallied the team's third goal of the contest before assisting on the fourth goal. The sophomore captain put the game out of reach with a goal in the 68th minute for a 5-0 advantage.
Bellesi anchored the Indian Hills defense while adding his first-career goal in the victory. The sophomore captain delivered a penalty kick goal in the 41st minute push the Warriors' lead to 2-0. Bellesi anchored the defense for nearly 75 minutes on Saturday as the Roughriders failed to put a shot on net. Bellesi and the Warrior defense have allowed just one goal through four matches this year.
The Warriors have now swept the weekly ICCAC DI Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week honors twice this year.

Indian Hills returns to action Wednesday afternoon with a key matchup vs. National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DII No. 4 ranked Iowa Lakes Community College at 3:30 PM as part of a doubleheader with the women's program, which gets underway at 1:00 PM.
